A stump grinder chews away at the stump wood that’s left after a tree has been cut down. If you have a tree with huge roots that stick out of the ground they can also be removed. All stump grinders use a powerful, rotating blade that rips into the wood as it turns. The blade’s teeth cut the stump wood into small pieces. The grinder will go 6” – 8” below the ground surface. If it is in a yard, you can have top soil added and grow grass where the stump was removed because you only need 3” of top soil for a lawn.
